City of Nottingham - where you meet the legend of Robin Hood

Nottingham is a gorgeous city with a ton to see and explore. If you’re plotting out an England itinerary, you should definitely add in a stop in this historic city. Since it’s surrounded by the stunning Nottinghamshire countryside, if you’re visiting the city, you should definitely look at day trips to some beautiful places nearby. The surrounding areas are full of castles, nature reserves, parks and country walks, all within an hour’s drive. The National Justice Museum is an independent museum on High Pavement in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, England. The museum is housed in a former Victorian courtroom, prison, and police station and is therefore a historic site where an individual could be arrested, tried, sentenced and executed. New Art Exchange Visual arts centre led by African, Caribbean and South Asian artists. Nottingham Contemporary is one of the largest contemporary art galleries in the UK, presenting exhibitions, special events, and family activities.

    Global Immersion Program Focus:
    Cybercrime & Cybersecurity

    This criminology program explores the history, nature, and patterns of cybercrime, introducing students to its criminological study.

    The use of computer technologies is essential for everyday life. BUT just as computer technologies, devices and networking have been expanded, cybercrime has expanded too. With increasing activities on the Internet, cybercrime is becoming an important study area. This criminology course explores the history, nature, and patterns of cybercrime, introducing students to its criminological study.

    You will look at a series of examples and case studies of Internet-related crime which will highlight the diversity of cybercrime as well as its prevention and detection. During the course you will explore contemporary issues and academic debates such as:

      • The theoretical cybercrime framework (e.g., definitions, victims, and offenders)
      • The motivation behind cybercrime (e.g., financial, personal, and political)
      • Cybercrime means and methods (e.g., malware, platforms, and pathways)
      • Cybersecurity and policing virtual spaces and cybercrimes (e.g., digital forensics and biometrics)
      • Cybercrime trends and future directions (e.g., surveillance and data trade, AI, robots, and drones).

      This program will help you
      • Evaluate the concept of cybercrime and its current and potential impact on globalised society
      • Develop a critical awareness of the importance of how the online environment has changed the nature of victimisation, offending and policing.
      • Critically interrogate sources of knowledge and information related to the constantly changing area of cybercrime
      • Effectively communicate and objectively analyse sensitive ideas and concepts related to cybercrime cyber-security. From a criminological perspective

    Design and Innovation in Business

    Explore the business case for design and creativity in the workplace. During this course, you will explore the business case for design and creativity in the workplace. Working in teams, you will examine and address design problems, experimenting with creative approaches and thinking in design, which may be new to you.

    Through taught and practice sessions within the design studio, workshops, and seminars, you will enhance your understanding of how to visually communicate ideas collaboratively. Using design methods as tools to improve your observational skills and create suitable outcomes, you will practice identifying problems/opportunities and developing a line of inquiry through the design process. In this program you will:

    • Learn what type of creative person you are.
    • Learn how to visualise your own thought process.
    • Explore where to find inspiration for ideas and how to translate these into concepts.
    • Demonstrate your ability to use basic sketching and modelling techniques to show your thinking.
    • Learn how to explore and unpack trends to identify focused themes and discover meaningful insights.
    • Improve your project management, leadership skills, & verbal presentation.
    Program Learning Outcome

    Global Immersion Program Focus:

    Music Production

    This practical course will give you the opportunity to learn the skills of a modern music producer, allowing you to create and edit a music production. It's ideal for enterprising students from all disciplines with an interest in the behind the scenes aspects of music.

    You will study at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in our Creative Quarter Campus and experience cutting-edge facilities and industry standard equipment. You will be taken through the composition process used in the current music technology industry.

    During the course you will gain experience in the following aspects of audio production:

    • Recording chain
    • Digital audio workstations
    • Audio and MIDI sequencing
    • Composition
    • Recording technique
    • Mixing skills

    At the end of the course you will produce music compositions that will be hosted on an online platform.
    You do not need to have experience of playing a musical instrument to take part.

    Credits - 10 UK Credit Points
